CS Executive Certification

The Company Secretary (CS) Executive exam is the second level of the CS program, conducted by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). To be eligible, candidates must first pass the CS Executive Entrance Test (CSEET) and meet other specific eligibility criteria. The exam is computer-based and is held twice a year in June and December. The CS Executive syllabus is divided into two modules, each containing several papers, and requires a minimum of 40% in each paper and an overall aggregate of 50% to pass.

 

Eligibility

 

  • Students must have passed the CSEET.
  • Students who have completed the Foundation Programme or have a graduate degree are also eligible to apply for the Executive Programme.

 

Exam structure

 

  • Structure: The exam is divided into two modules, with a total of seven papers.
  • Module 1: Jurisprudence, Interpretation & General Laws; Company Law; Setting up of Business Entities and Closure; and Tax Laws.
  • Module 2: Corporate & Management Accounting; Securities Laws & Capital Markets; Economics, Business, Commercial Laws; and Financial and Strategic Management.
  • Exam type: Both objective and subjective questions are included.
  • Exam mode: The exam is conducted offline in exam centers.
  • Duration: Each paper is three hours (180 minutes) long.
  • Total marks: Each paper is out of 100 marks.

 

Passing criteria

 

  • A candidate must secure at least 40% in each paper.
  • An overall aggregate score of at least 50% across all papers is required to pass.

 

Important dates

 

  • The exam is held twice a year: in June and December.
  • The ICSI also allows for late fee submissions for the exam registration.
